Happy Thursday!

I hope you are having a wonderful week!  I can’t believe we are already into October.  I am ready for the fall like temperatures they are forecasting for next week!!  Speaking of fall the fall school pictures went very well yesterday and today.  I spent time both days watching the children have them done and they all did a wonderful job smiling and posing for Diana.  I hope you are pleased with the end product.  Proofs and order forms will be coming home in your child’s folder in the coming weeks and I will also send an email letting you know they are coming home.  We will be doing pictures again in the spring and hopefully I will be able to offer a make up day for those that were absent yesterday and today.  I will keep you posted!!

The month of October the children at Suncreek Kids will be having fun with the weekly themes of community helpers, fire safety and with the season of fall and the fun of Halloween. We will have special events and speakers during the month to celebrate our study of community helpers. Our annual fire truck visit will be on Nov. 12th & 13th.  The colors of the month are orange and black and the shape of the month is rectangle.  Teachers will be introducing the letters C, D, E, and F.  This month the bible verse is “When I am afraid, I will trust in you.” Psalms 56:3 and the bible story is David and Goliath.

Roll Up your Sleeve………. Next Wednesday, Oct. 9th we will have a flu shot clinic for any parent that would like one from 9-10amThey will not be available for your child just adults please. I have release forms at the preschool front desk that you will need to fill out before you have the shot given.  If you would like to try and run this through your insurance company I would need a copy of your insurance card ahead of time before the clinic day.  Please have all insurance cards copied for submission into the preschool office by 2pm on Monday, Oct. 7th. The cost is $25 and you will receive a 10% coupon from Tom Thumb.  Please wear a short sleeve shirt too that day if getting the vaccine J

The 6th Annual Suncreek Kids Bike-a-Thon is quickly approaching.  The information along with the donation envelope went home yesterday and will be going home with others today. The event is on Thursday, Oct. 17th and the rain date will be Monday, Oct 21st.

We are very excited for this day of fun and fitness. A sponsor envelope is coming home today if it hasn’t already in your child’s folder along with a flyer so that you may begin to collect pledges for your little biker. Friends and relatives may pledge an amount per lap or a flat amount. The general rule of thumb for the amount of laps that each child will ride is 2 laps per age of the child. The older children often ride more than the average though. If pledges are made per lap that your child rides, then please collect your pledges after the event and return them to Suncreek Kids by October 31st. All funds raised will be used for classroom items and curriculum.

It takes many volunteers to make this day run smoothly and be so successfulNext Wednesday and Thursday look for the volunteer sign up sheet that will be at the front desk.  We would really love for you to help out if you can!!  I have listed the times each class is riding so you are aware of when your child will be riding so you can watch them and be able to schedule to help us at another time that day.  Your help is VERY appreciated!!

**We will also have a classroom spirit award that will be given away to one class on the day of the event.  The class that shows the most spirit will earn a pizza party that will take place the following week.  We will have a small committee of judges that will pick the winner based on a list of criteria they are looking for. The criteria will include students and parents attending the event wearing the class color, showing spirit in other ways with signs, pom poms etc and the bikes, helmets and/ or riding toy are decorated.  If you are fan of us on Facebook look under the bike-a-thon album from last year’s event for the pictures of the spirit our children and families displayed.  This is a very fun day so let’s show our class spirit and help your class try to win the pizza party. Your classroom teachers will remind you weekly up to the day’s event.  Thanks for all you do to make this a fun day for the children!
